The mission of Newport Mill Middle School is to provide an educational experience that uses STEM-centric teaching and learning to produce highly successful readers, writers, and problem-solvers who gain intercultural understanding and respect by addressing real-world problems through authentic assessment.

The vision of Newport Mill Middle School, an International Baccalaureate World School, is to inspire and support socially active, compassionate, respectful, and intercultural lifelong learners.

The Instructional Focus of Newport Mill Middle School, is that teachers will provide students with a daily opportunity to demonstrate the ATL (Approches to Learning) Skill of THINKING through critical and transfer thinking skills, as taught through questioning strategies.

Support the 2024 PTSA Tiger Run

All students will participate in Newport Mill's annual 1 mile Tiger Run on March 22nd during their PE/Health class periods 1-6!  Not only have the students been preparing for this event all year, but this is also our PTSAs largest fundraiser. Funds raised from Tiger Run will support schoolwide student events like dances, as well as supports teacher funding requests through TigerGrants.

CHANGE TO MONDAY APRIL 22

Monday APril 22 was previously designated as a professional development / possible make-up day in teh 2023-2024 traditional school year calendar. This day will shift to an asynchronous learning day where students will engage in the learning expereinces and complete work asynchronously. Students will have 10 days to submit thier asynchronous work from the virtual day. Submission of the asynchronous work will be used ot take attendance in order to meet the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) attendance requirements. More information will be provided as we get closer to April 22nd.

MARYLAND SURVEY INFORMATION

State law requires that all public schools in Maryland survey students about school climate. The purpose of the survey is to gain valuable information about the quality and character of each school’s learning environment so that schools can promote a climate that supports student learning. 

 

Students will take the Maryland School Survey during regular school hours during Science class on March 14, 2024.
