Principal's Message (April 28, 2024)

Good afternoon, Viers Mill families!  This is Mr. Hawkins, Principal of Viers Mill Elementary School, with our weekly Sunday message.

Thank you to our incredible Parent Teacher Association for planning such a wonderful International Night event this past Friday!  And, we truly appreciate all of the families who set up tables with food and other items from their cultures!  Finally, the performances by our families (including former Jaguars) were amazing!

Next, do you or someone you know have a child who will be joining us for Kindergarten next school year?  Please help spread the word about our Kindergarten Orientation on Tuesday, April 30, from 9:30-11:00 a.m.  Families and children will learn about our Kindergarten instructional program, meet our staff, and complete a tour of our school!  We will also have several community partners provide resources to our families.

On Wednesday, May 1, parents and caregivers are invited to join us from 9:00-10:15 a.m. in our All-Purpose Room for a Restorative Justice Parent Coffee.  During this event, meet other parents/caregivers while learning more about limit setting and talking to children about race and racism.  Snacks and beverages will be provided!

Finally, Mr. Whittington is seeking parent volunteers for Field Day on Friday, May 24.  Volunteers are needed from 8:45 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. for our Early Childhood through 2nd grade activities.  More volunteers will then be needed from 12:30-3:15 p.m. for our other Early Childhood and Grade 3-5 activities.  We have additional volunteer needs for recess that day between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  If you are available to support, please return the flyer that our students brought home or complete an online form by clicking HERE

I hope our families had a wonderful weekend!  We look forward to seeing our Jaguars tomorrow!
