Unit 5

Unit Overview

In this unit, students extend their knowledge of powers to rational exponents. Students evaluate roots of real numbers using both radical and exponential notation. They write equivalent radical expressions and power expressions with rational exponents. The properties of radicals are extended to indices greater than two. The properties and graphs of radical functions are explored. Students apply radical and power functions to real-world situations, solve radical equations, and check for extraneous roots.
