Summer Institute, July 22-26

Wootton High School will be offering Summer Institute classes this year. Classes meet for one hour, daily, from July 22-26, 2024, and will be held virtually due to painting and improvement projects in the building this summer. Classes are for enrichment/preparation and are not offered for transcript credit. Classes for credit are offered through MCPS Central & Regional programs

Fill out this Google Form to enroll in any of the non-credit courses. The cost for each course is $100 (plus online payment processing fee). Courses will run based on interest and enrollment. A minimum of 10 students are needed to offer the course. We will send communication to confirm registration and directions to pay the course fee once we meet our minimum number of students.

Description

Target Audience

Intro to AP NSL Government 

This course is designed to help students be successful in their first AP Social Studies course. Students will learn skills for reading, analyzing, note taking, test-taking, and time management. Students will also get a preview on the course content for AP NSL Government. 

Students who are signed up for AP NSL Government during the 2024-25 school year.

Algebra 2 Prep

This course will focus on reviewing Algebra 1 skills, problem-solving techniques, and test taking strategies needed to be successful in Algebra 2. Non-credit course.

Students who are signed up for Algebra 2 during the 2024-25 school year.

PreCalculus Prep 

This course will focus on reviewing Algebra 2 skills, problem-solving techniques, and test taking strategies needed to be successful in PreCalculus.

Students who are signed up for PreCalculus during the 2024-25 school year.

AP Calculus Prep 

This course will focus on reviewing skills, problem-solving techniques, and test taking strategies needed to be successful in AP Calculus.

Students who are signed up for AP Calculus during the 2024-25 school year.

Writing the High School Essay

This one week preparatory course is designed to enhance the writing skills of incoming 9th graders. Students will work with a Wootton English teacher to develop a mastery of the step-by-step process of constructing an essay.

Rising 9th grade students.

Writing the College Essay

If you would like to get a jumpstart on the college essay writing process, this one-week course is for you. Students will look at college essay topics from the Common Application & Coalition Application (and from other universities) and receive tips and suggestions for crafting their essays. This course will help you brainstorm, draft, and revise your college essay. 

Rising 12th grade students only.
