The Middle School Science curriculum supports and builds upon the elementary science philosophy that stresses the importance of the interactive processes whereby activities that generate knowledge are emphasized over knowledge itself.  Building on that foundation, the middle school curriculum provides an opportunity for self-expression, self-examination, and creative problem solving in both individual and group settings.  The middle school science curriculum also serves as a bridge between process-oriented instruction of the elementary years and discipline-oriented instruction of high school.  At all grade levels the middle school science program facilitates the continued development of the following processes: asking questions, gathering data, making sense of data, and communicating.
