NATIONAL SEARCH FOR NEW SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

The Montgomery County Board of Education is launching a nationwide search for the next superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), who will assume the role in July of 2024. In its commitment to secure the best candidate to lead the school system and prepare students for success in college, career and community, the Board will hire a firm to recruit and vet the candidates.

To ensure a comprehensive and inclusive search, the Board is moving ahead with seeking input from stakeholders in Montgomery County. The input gathered and the Board’s core values and strategic priorities will inform candidate selection. The vital characteristics of the next superintendent will be collected through multiple channels.

  • General Feedback Form
  • Superintendent Search Survey for students, staff and families. (Now Available)
  • Community Engagement events during the first week of April on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday April 2, 3 and 4.
  • Stakeholder focus groups

Your presence and insights are invaluable as we navigate this important decision. During each forum, we will be discussing two key questions that will help guide our search process.
Focus Questions
  1. What qualities and characteristics do you believe are most important for our new superintendent to possess?
  2. What specific goals and priorities should our new superintendent focus on to best serve our students, teachers, families, and community?
Your input on these questions will provide valuable guidance to the Board of Education as they evaluate each candidate.
