Sports Spotlight

  • Practice for 2017 MCPS fall athletic teams may begin Wednesday, August 9th. Please contact your local schools Athletic Director for specific dates and times.  

  • Schedules for the 2017-2018 seasons will be available on the  County Sport Zone  website for High Schools in early August. 
  • Middle School Schedules for the 2017-2018 seasons are available on the Events tab of the MCPS Athletics website.
  • MCPS Requires Specific Forms for participation in the interscholastic athletics program. These forms are also available en Español.

Upcoming Events

What an amazing sports season this has been!! We can't wait to get back into action. Opening game day for the 2017-18 school year is Friday, September 1, 2017. 

Sports Insight

Check out "Sports Insight" on MCPSTV, a web and TV series about the MCPS high school and middle school athletics program. The monthly program provides a behind the scenes look at MCPS athletics, while highlighting student-athletes, teachers, coaches and support staff, covering a variety of topics like sportsmanship and community involvement. 


Congratulations!

During the 2016-17 school year, MCPS athletic teams won a total of 212 championships, including 18 state championships, 38 district or regional championships, 112 division or county championships, and 44 sectional championships. In addition, precisely 150 MCPS student-athletes won individual state championships. Some honorable mentions from this past year include:

  • The Poolesville High School Swim & Dive team won the 2017 Boys & Girls 3A/2A/1A state swimming championships, making it 6 straight championships for the boys and a 3-peat for the girls. Awesome job Falcons!
  • The Damascus High School Wrestling Team has won the 3A/4A State Wrestling Dual Meet 5 years in a row. Way to sting the competition Hornets!
  • The Northwest High School Boys Indoor Track team won their 4th consecutive State Indoor Track Championship. Way to go Jags!
