Montgomery County Public Schools’ Charter Application website is intended to provide important information, dates and resources for those interested in submitting a charter school application for consideration.

Applications will be accepted during spring 2016 for charter schools seeking to open in school year 2017 - 2018.

Application Form

This application for schools that wanted to open in the 2016–2017 school year is for reference only. The application for schools that wish to open in the 2017–2018 school year will be posted in the fall.

Sets forth guidance for the application, evaluation, approval, implementation, and ongoing monitoring process for public charter schools.

Establishes criteria for the evaluation of proposals for public charter schools, the principles guiding the negotiation and contracting process, and assignment of responsibility for oversight of approved public charter schools.

Policy BBB: Ethics

Promotes the highest level of ethical conduct on the part of all persons associated with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), to ensure the highest public confidence in the impartiality and independent judgment of Board of Education (Board) members and school employees, and to provide guidance for MCPS personnel concerning ethics related matters.

Policy GCARA: Employee Conflict of Interest

describes areas, in addition to those addressed in Montgomery County Board of Education (Board) Policy BBB, Ethics, that constitute a conflict of interest; to advise employees on how to avoid such situations; and to specify the action taken if the regulation is violated.
